Mysore Palace Illumiated @ Night

Come October and whole

India

is in mood of festivals celebrating "navratri". This time I thought to celebrate navratri in different way, so packed my bag and went on a 3 day tour to Mysore.

Near Railway Measeum

The moment I reached Mysore, I knew this tour is going to be one of the most memorable tours. Whole Mysore city was shinning bright, celebrating & singing to the tunes of brotherhood and humanity. There was not a single place which was not decorated. I had booked hotel in advance, it was nice n decent.

There are lots of beautiful places in Mysore, which can’t be ignored; you will find many places, zoo, beautiful gardens...etc. First we went to Brindavan garden, as it is best in evening time near the Cauvery dam. It is decorated with lots of colorful flowers, n water fountains which glow during night. The garden was clean n beautiful and in was able to witness musical fountain. It started around 6.30 and continued for 30minutes. So, if you go there you can spend a quality time in the garden, and you will get some good snacks also.

Travelling anywhere in Mysore is too easy as you will get bus anytime from Mysore palace. During dusherra lots of events keep on happening in and around the Mysore palace. You need to have a priority which events you want to attend. You can get details from Mysoredusherra website. After returning from brindan garden I went to the Mysore palace to attend evening shows. And to my astonishment I was able to watch Russian artists perform on patriotic Hindi songs. They sang, performed and made everyone dance. So finally after a long tiring day I went back to hotel.

Chamundi Hill Temple

Next day after long planning, we went first to Chamundi hills. As it was Dashami it was crowded, but thank god we got chance to have glimpse of lord Chamundi after standing 3hrs. The temple is really beautiful, standing on top of chamundi hills. View of Mysore from top of hill is astonishing. Then it was time for Mysorezoo which was 7km long. It was good as another zoo, with lots of animals, most important thing about zoo is you must know what is the correct timing to visit, cause if you go in wrong time most of animals will be sleeping i.e. during noon.

Mysore Zoo

There are lots of palaces in Mysore, each with different history n culture. If you get time you must visit. But few are popular like Jagmohan palace which is a museum or you can say it’s an art gallery. Containing art n culture of Mysore n its rulers. Like these there are many other places to visit. But due to lack of time I decided to visit only these and enjoy dushera possession which was going to happen on last day of navratri n watch torch light parade in evening.

Torch light parade is one more thing which is worth watching for, this is happens in a huge Stadium, full with 1000s of people ,which happens in the evening , this time Karnataka Police organized some of the stunt shows on their bike, it was true show of bravery and patriotism. And when you watch 1000s of police officers marching while holding torch light “mashal”, you will feel proud to be an Indian, the way they march and create structures are really amazing. The show also had a huge group of dancers from all round the India, dancing in synchronization on a single song but in their own dance form. In the end there was demonstration of firecrackers making sky illuminate.

Describing “Mumbai” from eyes of Poonawala.

By Amrit Mishra - October 01, 2013

In the morning when I woke up it was like a normal weekend for me, waking late, enjoying tea in morning sunshine, but in few seconds there was a whole new twist when my friends decided to have a road trip to Mumbai.

“Common r u crazy.” - first thing which came to my mind.

Tiger Valley on our way to Mumbai

Badri nath temple

But when we changed grears for Mumbai in our bike it was a whole new experience. Enjoying cool weather after rain, beautiful green mountains, with colorful flowers shining bright in the morning sunlight. It was approximately 160km distance to reach Mumbai. When we started we had no idea where we will be going, where to stay, what to eat, only one thing we knew – it is going to be a blast. Travelling in highway, stopping at frequent intervals to shoot photographs, have food, enjoy beautiful sceneries, and fuel refilling. While travelling we went through the Tiger Valley, one of the most amazing places to visit if you are staying in Pune. On the way we came across lots of beautiful villages, temples, and people each expressing a new story.

“Yeh dil hai muskil jeena yahan,Hey hai Mumbai,

yeh hai Mumbai, yeh hai Mumbai meri jaaaaan……”

Night View of Gateway of India

Night view of Marine Drive

Singing, shouting, boozing we reached Mumbai, and we headed towards marine drive. Asking for direction in every traffic and turn. Finally we reached the marine drive sheww…. We have seen marine drive in lots of movies but experiencing it live is totally different, you can feel the energy, happiness, excitement in the air itself. There are thousands of people and most of them were youngsters, trying to relax in the weekend sitting sea side enjoying the colors of dawn. When we realized we are lagging behind the time we started for Gateway of India, and when I reached there I realized why it is called as Taj Mahal of Mumbai, the city's top tourist attraction. For a photographer, it is one of the best places to capture the real emotions of the city. Many different faces, many different culture, many different emotions at one place. In front was the Taj Hotel, facing to the endless Arabian Sea. In the night, City shine much more bright, as Mumbai is famous for its Night life. After refreshing we visited few of clubs and tasted this flavor of Mumbai too. And according to my experience it was amazing, lots of sweet girls, lots of dance, and lots of music. It was 3am in night when we went for the sleep.

Next morning it was difficult for us to get up, but we started our journey again and went to Juhu Chowpati, what a tasty food, spiecy, hot paw bhazi, biryani and ended with chilled golla. Wandered on the streets of Mumbai, experiencing, talking, chatting with Mumbaiya in there taporri language, it was really too funny, and in the evening we headed back to Pune crossing 160km again.

Overall I can say, it was an awesome journey to Mumbai. Some said to understand Mumbai you need to stay there, and live life of a Mumbaiya. One or two day tour can never describe what Mumbai is and what it means for the people who spent there whole life in this vast city.

Explored Mud Rush - Monsoon Edition Woodland 's Association

By Amrit Mishra - September 03, 2013

When was the last time you tested your limits?

When was the last time you pushed yourself to the end?

When was the last time you explored the wildness in you?

If you have not done anything like this, then Mud Rush 2013 will make you do it and it will make you discover the beast inside you.

31 August 2013,

Mud Rush – Monsoon Edition came with more mud, more excitement, more obstacles, more energy, and I was read as ever with my Woodland shoes to crush the mud, break the obstacles, run through the fire and be a Mud Rusher. My whole event was sponsored by Woodland, and I feel lucky to be one, the woodland team was really amazing, as I got a Woodland tee shirt too, the team helped me a lot in getting through the registration process and attend the race. This time Mud Rush was organized at Pune, Jadavgard fort and the climate was also very good, there was a huge energetic crowd from Pune and Mumbai who made the event even more exciting. With the spirits of “Never Say Die" every one ran to be Mud Rusher, from small kids to elderly people, every one was singing to the tunes of MUUUD RUUUUSH, MUUD RUSH, MUUUD RUUUUSHHHH.

Race started with warm up exercise from the trainers of Gold Gym, and when the flag was set to green, nothing could have stopped the mud rusher from overcoming the obstacles. Tightening my Woodland shoes, I also became part of the madness. It was 6.5km race with 21 obstacles to test your limits, strength, endurance, power and above all will to overcome your fear. Started with uphill run till first obstacle slowed us, as we have to jump to the 3 feet mud, which could shallow you if you don’t come out in time. Then it was time for song long jump, rock climbing, fire obstacle, mud trap and many more. When we completed half of the journey, we thought that the upcoming obstacles won’t be any more difficult. But in the mean time we were proved wrong, it was just the trailers of forthcoming obstacle. There was spider track where we need to cross the wall holding the rock and incase you fall, you end up entering to huge mud full pit. And if you cross it, then you have to enter a huge pipe and crawl the mud to cross it. There were many more different obstacles like sliding from top to the bottom, which was again covered with mud. It was like

"Screw Calm lets go Mental"

"Hell full of Mud"

The more you try to escape, more you get trapped in it, We had two options in our hand, either do it and create a history or leave the game be a history. We held our adventurous spirits high and continued to break the obstacles, the tougher was the obstacle, tougher we were getting and finally when we completed the journey it was an awesome experience. As if we had won World Cup and it was time to celebrate with Kingfisher. It was amazing journey, thanks to Woodland I am now an Extreme Explorer

In the evening everyone was welcomed with Sun down DJ party with loud music and bass making your feet dance and the fire show made everyone more excited even after such a long journey.

Whole day was really amazing the Jadhavgard fort, the adventurous tasks, the beautiful participants, the kingfisher beer, sundown party, everything was just superb.

It was one of the best kinds of Adventure sports I have done till now. One thing I would like to include in the end :

"To be a Woodland Extreme Explorer one needs courage, guts and never-say-die attitude."
